This site does support responsible development, but we have serious concerns about the scale and location of the proposed Ladies Mile project. We believe it will place unacceptable pressure on already congested roads and overstretched infrastructure, particularly wastewater systems. Whilst fundamentally changing the character of our community. In our view there is insufficient evidence to justify a development of this size given the number of other housing projects already underway. We urge decision-makers to ensure that any future growth is based on genuine need, supported by robust infrastructure, and carefully planned to protect the qualities that make Queenstown an exceptional place to live.
Some of these are proposed 7 & 5 story apartment blocks with most being 3 story walk ups (note these are NOT homes as perceived, they are rental apartments). 2 major carpark buildings and very very very little infrastructure for retail. These roads are going to be gridlocked. Don't expect to be leaving Lake Hayes Estate or Shotover Country in under 30 minutes ever again.
